Hemaprabha works on the development and characterization of functional nanomaterials and as an electron microscopist, she also explores the atomic-scale phenomena of these materials.
Hema has her bachelor’s degree in materials science and she is the gold medalist of her batch (2013). In her 2nd year of bachelor’s, she did her summer internship at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. Next year, she went to IIT-Madras to do her summer internship, which she thinks is the motivating point to pursue her Ph.D. During her bachelor’s, she worked on a project, under ‘Student Innovative Idea (2012)’ funded by the Centre for Technology Development and Transfer, CEG campus. She joined as a direct Ph.D. student in the Center for Energy Research, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore. She then joined as a postdoctoral researcher at Technion Israel Institute of Technology.
